Rendered Dragon

Whew, this picture has worn me out! For some reason that I can't explain, I got it in my head to do a photoshop rendering of the last sketch I posted. Far too many hours later this is the result. I tip my hat to all the render types, it's a lot of work!

Furry Dragon

It was only a matter of time until I got back to dragons.

Animated type

Another animated short illustration. It came from a card featuring animated type I did for Renata.
*note: the vimeo navigation bar covers up some text on the bottom of the clip if you leave the cursor over it.

Below is the original card. It is very rough,
and you shouldn't read into how I illustrated the letters - they are completely random:

Toad-E and Snake In Da Grass

This is the final image I contributed to Nobrow Issue 2 : The Jungle,
sort of...
The actual image I contributed is a bit different, more graphic. The project specified the use of three spot colors, so I converted my image which changed it a - in a good way(got to use misaligned faux-3d glass colors). It was a lot of fun to experiment with, reminded me of taking silkscreen in art college. And it lead to the type of stuff I am doing in my animation sketches.

The magazine is being launched today, or maybe yesterday/tomorrow? I can never figure out the time change.

Here is a link:

I'd recommend the magazine - cool artists, including a favorite of mine Marc Boutavant.

Caricature and Link

Another caricature in which I have cleverly hid the identity of the subject by making it not look all that much like him.

On another subject, on my other blog I have posted about an inspirational illustrators talk we attended last Thursday:

Part four - In Hindsight

In retrospect I have learned that I should not have done what I did.
But my conscience tells me, "Given the same circumstances you should make the same choice."
Epilogue: My laptop screen kept dying. I have found a workaround that might help others if they can't get it fixed out of warranty, however a student with the same computer did get a video card replaced out of warranty a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, by accident I found it will work if I hook it up to another computer using firewire target disk mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
You seem to have to transfer around some files to make the computer work, but for whatever reason it starts up the next day. I have also stopped putting it to sleep when possible, screen saver instead, especially if it's heated up.
Fingers crossed, knock on wood it will keep on going!

Part three - There is no guarantee

If you don't buy one, that is.

"The do-hickey is connected to the thing-a-ma-jig,
which is attached via a what-cha-ma-call-it." said the mechanic.
"What is that mean?" the customer asked.
"1500 bucks." he clarified.

Part two - The Lesser Of Two Evils

dilemma - a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives, esp. equally undesirable ones.
One year and eight month's ago he asked, "Should I pay now, so I don't pay later?"
"I've been lucky so far." he answered.
